I'm getting the impression that you are looking at individual trees here as singular entities with scant regard to their wider place in the conected urban forest & without considering the impact they have on both the ecological & psychological environment around us.

.

Hey Monkey-D

We can also take a look at individual trees and there impact ecological cultural and psychological bla bla. We retain the fact that they are all different and play different parts in the "urban landscape" thats OK.

Yawn.

Look gang, this is how it is. Tim is probably laughing his arse off at the consequences of his thread. If you don't realise that, then you ain't been around here long enough. I have and we share a certin point of view on these matters. No-ones falling out. The toys are still in the pram (well, my pram at least).

As for me flaming? Seriously? I suspect there'd be more than one person notice it.

Maybe I should just stick to editing duff thread titles and deleting spam right? I'm just here to police the crowd not join in. Forget than the business of actually using the site to discuss things with people I know in a context that we both understand. How could I have been so stupid...

I can see both points of view, personally I like CC, my local TO uses it a lot, but TBH I did not even know it was a BS term. I know exactly what he means and he knows I know. It sort of gives me scope to do whats needed.

I'm not sure none arbs GAF about whats in the BS, in fact I'm not sure that many arbs are, in fact I think "BS" pretty much sums it all up for me, but then I'm just a simple climber/cutter.

We have used the question what can you tell us about BS3998 in interviews and only 1 out of 8 had heard of it and the 1 could not give examples of content

Good points and how many arb guys and galls actually know what it is never mind have they read it or even do they own it

I personally think it is now too big and detailed and know very few folk that have read it

P.s It is still a term in the NPTC assessment for prunning:thumbup:
