How do you manage to stay cool when working?

I hate the heat in this job, makes working hard unbearable (not that I ever work hard!) Due to my hair having a slight auburn hue, my skin seems to absorb the suns rays, even in winter, leading to 3rd degree burns to exposed areas. I carry about 3-4litres of water with me most days, and on hot days the camelbak isnt far from reach. Drink plenty, keep your cooling system functional.

I dont find the stretch-air tops as breathable as cool max or the nike dri-fits. they do wear well though. is there just one type of stretch-air t shirt?

just spotted some running T-shirts on 'Sportshoes.com' some are £10 reduced.

 

Being running tops they could give you a 0.05 sec advantage if the tree goes the wrong way:sneaky2:

i just work really slow therefore assuring i never heat up, it has served me well for years:thumbup:

 

People shouldn't assume this chap is joking! Pacing yourself is very important.

 

Also, if you're doing mixed work during the day - say some with a chainsaw and some without - and you can organise it well then you could always strip off the heavier boots and trousers when they're not needed and do your light work in shorts and work boots - much nicer.

 

The t-shirt soaked in water sounds nice, too. I must try that some time.

If is going to be a scorcher and we are stump treating we generally wear the type A ones as they are lighter and have a bit more breathability. I have done it a few times during the summer when we are mowing or spraying. Normally just soak the t-shirt wring it out once and back on it goes. I have only gone swimming once as it was so damn hot. Forgot one very important thing though....... A towel. Was refreshing though.

If its to hot, wear shorts, or jeans/combats. Its safer to wear them, than struggle on in hot chainsaw trousers imo.
