connecting tipper pump to vehicle battery?

I know its a bit lazy:blushing: - but does any one do a kit so that i can connect my ifor tipper straight to my landy battery so i dont have to keep taking the trailer battery off and charging it?

I guess its just heavy duty connectors and wiring with an inline fuse that can be cable tied to the chasis from the battery to near where the plug for the lights connect?

I just ran 2 battery leads from the battery to an anderson connector at the back of the landy, then the same to the front of the trailer. Works fine.

I have wired up a caravan charger to my truck so when I plug the lights in I also plug the trickle charger in. This charges the IW battery as I go along. When I come to tip I have to turn the engine off as it would blow the fuse. Other than that it works great. Cost in all about £40 to put in myself. Hope this helps.

Either of the above work well, the Anderson connector means you are tied to a towing vehicle with a connector which can be a problem but it gives you an excuse not to lend the trailer out if asked. If you go with the Anderson You can also put one on your jump leads which eliminates all that faffing about with the bonnet or dismantling the passenger seat (after evicting the passenger) in most Landover’s

 

Split charging is OK but you need to remember to turn the lights on.

 

If you park the trailer near a power socket you can simply charge the battery overnight, a fully charged battery will manage more than enough for a days work, as long as you remember to charge it.

How about you use a split charger the likes of which you would use for a second winch battery, and connect via Anderson connector. Keeps battery on the trailer in case you need to use a different vehicle, and you don't need to worry about the current. Clever ones allow you to tie the two batteries together at the push of a button allowing you to use the Anderson socket as a jump point, in either direction.

Use 50mm sq welding cable minimum, a fuse would be an advantage if there a chance of it being cut/short circuited.

Same on our L200. Got a 60 amp inline fuse too. Blown it once this year but otherwise fine
