Maybe outside of TO's jurisdiction. I'm pretty sure felling licences are checkable online and if SSSIs are affected then English Nature will be involved but you probably know that anyway. Good luck.

watford borough council are ultimatley responsible for the managment of WW, i know cos english nature pushed me to them when quizzed for other damges, driving a mog over and ripping bark on beech root while fruiting of meripilus was rife in the area they worked and was also on the tree the was felling.

I have had very little reponse from english nature on enquiries before, and thought making a few select ATF records might help the situation by drawing more attention to it.

lets just say, if the area is to be extended into the other parts of the wood i will become one of those people we all slate for tying themselves to trees, except i will be a bit more pro active!

I reckon if that does happen you could get a fair size protest group together on here. I'm in

I am involved in the felling works in Whippendell Woods and cannot quite grasp what the problem is?

The thinning work is at least 20-30 years overdue.

I understand some people think short term ie; (Been walking in these woods for 30 years Blah Blah Blah Bluebell's Beetles, Bats, where else can my dog possibly S=..t, etc etc etc ! ) What about your children and their children? How do you expect them to enjoy the woodland if it is not maintained? Have you actually ever taken a close look at the trees or the stumps of the felled trees? Most are squirrel damaged. Dead , Dying and Dangerous Trees have been removed next to pathways which in my opinion were a hazard to walkers. Dead wood has beeen left for habitat. The canopy has been opened up allowing light, the long term benefits are endless. As for the comment on Hard Cash ..... Get a Grip.
