hi all i was driveing along the mendips hill today 4,30pm when i looked across the field and seen a farmer cutting up a tree on fire:lol: its a first for me too see his chainsaw could have been a bomb:lol: and i thought i was crasy all the best jon

Ive seen people in telehandler buckets cutting limbs off various bits and bobs. Ive witnessed a whole cedar of lebanon being dropped in large chunks with a bloke sat in the bucket with a selection of saws. The biggest was on the deck ready to fell the main stem. Was a veru funny site to say the least. No rope holding the bloke in. Just chainsaw hat and trousers for PPE.

I did that as a kid, no ppe lol ive also cut up a tree that was on the bonfire, just nibbling away at it and chucking it on the main flame. I know im from somerset, and yes im a cider drinker. But i didnt think what i was doing was that bad?

As long as you werent cutting actually in the flame wots the problem. Should post this but if our fires are choked of oxygen we go around the edges and cut the stuff out that is holding it up.

Two weeks ago I sat and watched two men in a bucket hanging from a crane!

One of them (the expert) had a chainsaw and his apprentice held on to the tree. So as the expert levered the saw into the tree (and the bucket swung away from the tree) the apprentice would lean out and reach over the saw to hold onto the tree and stop the bucket from swinging too far!

It's a good job he wasn't working on his own - that would have been dangerous!
