Just to restore some faith in the local constabulary i was pulled over by the police yesterday on the slip road to the M5. I was towing a Carlton 7015 stump grinder on hire from a local firm, they want to do a check on it to see if it was stolen.

It took 40 mins out of my day but to be fair i said i didnt mind as if my equipment was stolen at least i thought it might be pulled over somewhere down the road! First time in 3 years though!!!

Hey I know it is tiresome getting pulled but at least they were checking for stolen kit. Good job that it wasn't VOSA! Taco, manual records, vehicle check, trailor check!:w00t:

I was followed back to the yard a few months ago by the police when he finally approached me i was sure he was going to give me a hard time for not having the right reg plate on but he didn't care about it and just wanted to make sure the kit was mine.

Was nice to see the police doing a good job and not just trying to screw over the guys just trying to earn a living!

In a previous incarnation I was Old Bill. Once stopped a convoy of travellers (political correctness prevents me using my preferred euphamism) caravans. Discovered a couple of nicked caravans and in a Transit five nicked chainsaws, two brushcutters, two leaf blowers and several sets of climbing tackle. The guy who had his yard burgled a couple of nights earlier was well chuffed to get it back particularly as he had a big job coming up. Times like that made me love the job. If your the arb who got his gear back pm me and I'll let you buy me a beer!!

I remember a few years ago had a knock at the door at 6.30am.... thought who could it be.

Bleary eyed I opened it and there was two policemen.

"We've found a chipper abandoned 2 miles down the road and dropped by to make sure it wasn't yours."

It wasn't but I felt well chuffed they had dropped by. That is proper local policing IMO.
