This beech tree looked like it had been reduced no longer than 18 months ago, it was down for a 30% thin, i took it easy and did less (for the sake of the tree of course:biggrin:)

pics are before 1,3,5 and after 2,4,6

Very subtle job Rob. What was the reason for the reduction?

to be honest mate i couldn't tell you, only been at the LA since december

i can imagine it has been a "tennant" complaint thats been followed through by the TO, but i'd be clutching at straws..

there was/is absolutely nothing wrong with the tree and IMO didn't need to be reduced all that time ago and didn't need to be thinned today

hence the subtle job:thumbup:

Yeah its a bit odd but I suppose thats LA's for you. I heard the other day that a company from the Isle of Skye has got the contract to do tree work for Inverness council thats around trip of about 230 miles.

Looks like a nice tree to climb though.

Nice work but a shame considering the complaints obviously meant you had to go and thin it...good on you for not going the whole 30%, I think beech in the south have there climate sorted at the minute (being nice and damp, although some planted last year did not fare to well in the begining)the older ones that did not survive or get stressed in the 80's 90's droughts I think show how easily they are stressed , quite convinced beech get depleted quick of energy reserves ,removal of reactive growth or growth so quickly after a reduction can't be too good?

left a lot of the new epi on, took out just the one or two that were crossing or rubbing

it was a very pleasant tree to climb, not done a beech in ages and was like a kiddies climbing frame, could've done it without ropes but we all know thats against health and safety:lol:
