my favourite(not really an invention as such), was the guy who walked into swan vestas offices claiming he could save them X amount of money per year....they duly paid for his services. his idea?? only have the match strike on one side of the box.

i heard this story years ago, and to this day i dont know if its actually true or not

This is what I'm thinking after Reading the already existing patent that is similar. Because it's a crossover from a different industry, the use is/will be different even though the concept is the same

unfortunately I now have to make the choice of deciding if this idea is a goer and spending a bit of money on a patent lawyer who would/could check all the similarities and legalities behind it

but if it makes me semi-wealthier() than I am now which would be a massive financial boost in my case haha, then I genuinely do beleive that this idea is a goer

I understand what you mean, it's hard to explain without kind of well revealing my idea, and this is the difficulty. I could do with talking to a lawyer. Like Steve said, i'm gonna sleep on it but cheers for all the input guys

Dear Rob: As an inventor I know of your concerns. I believe that anyone you work with needs to sign a non disclosure agreement with you. This will protect you and your idea to a point. If whoever you want to deal with refuses to sign such an agreement my advise would be to thank them and leave at once. Your idea is only as good as the people you know and trust to work with you and not against you. You may wish to contact some of your local schools to seek advise and or assistance. If you have the funds available a Patent att. might also be a good idea to perform a Patent search for your idea or product. FYI If you try to secure Patent rights to protect you all over the world, I hope you have pockets 50 feet deep. You will need it!. Remember the patent rights will not protect the inventor, that is up to the attorney and the court to decide. I wish you the best since the Inventors road is very long and not for jack wagons or the faint of heart.
