Maritime Pine is closely related to Turkish Pine, Canary Island Pine and Aleppo Pine, which all share many features with it. It is a relatively non-variable species, with constant morphology over the entire range.

I may be in my head but aren't Turkish Pine needles slightly fatter and longer than their Maritime friend?

 

I too took the four cone thing to place it. Cones don't look big enough to be a Monterey Pine.

Not wishing to sound picky but how big would you say the cones in the photo are ? :001_smile:

im still sticking with pinus pinaster aka the maritime pine. prepaired to be wrong though:001_smile:

 

I wish my books weren't still packed away from moving house and that I didn't have a screaming 9 week old baby in my arms as I might be able too research a bit better ............:biggrin:
