Is your set-up simple because it works for you, or for some other reason?

I usually use one rope, VT, hitchclimber and a lanyard with grillon - it's simple but not as simple as yours.

because its the only thing ive tried....am thinking about getting a lanyard and grillin......VT? hitchclimber?

theres better options than a grillion for your lanyard

I agree.

Not really making a recommendation - just a 'show you mine ... show me yours' comment.

If I knew then what I know now, I'd opt for something like an ART positioner.

Get yourself the tree climbers companion, a really good book and useful to look over if you have not used a particular knot or hitch in a while. something like a distel on your side lanyard i found really good as its quite a short hitch but hey just try new things and it will be like your being reborn into climbing and enjoy
