This is something that I am going to be doing VERY soon. Looks great but you are limiting your sale of logs to only 2 cube, I think they need to be bigger.

 

I wouldn't say so. 2 cube is a fair size space wise. If they want more space, either buy 2 or make a custom size for people. I've made some out of pallets and box crates. I've many more to make, they'll be brilliant.

I`m delivering 4 cube to someone this week and 3 to someone next. That would not fit into Daves log store.

I had a go at building nice wee log stores but can't sell them for love nor money

I have been researching log sheds for a few customers and wasn't overly impressed with what you got for the money you pay out. So I had a go at making one just to see whether or not they would be worth doing from a business perspective.

Made from 6"x1" and 3"x2" tanalised wood with a felt roof, volume of 2.16 cubic metres (internal 1.8mx0.8mx 1.5-1.6m high). They can take 10 barrow bags of logs comfortably (2 cube)

Price would be around £230-£250 but would include delivery and putting it up, slab bases at extra cost.

Any thoughts/criticism (pref constructive) welcome

I have two retail outlets in mind for selling them pus a website

 

i'd be putting a shelf in halfway up (or offering it for a bit extra) to get a good rotation, that way they can order more before they run out:thumbup1:

Like I said if one isn't enough buy 2, or have a custom size. The reason why I said its a fair size should be obvious. It'll fit in almost any garden and through any gate. A bigger one has a higher chance of not making it past the front garden for being podgy.

My log stores are very similar Dave, except I use corrugated plastic roofing sheets on top. I can then have a 6" overhang at the front & guttering at the back if wanted. Both help keep water from dripping in.

Did one last spring, a big 'un, which came in at a few pennies under £1000.00, including a concrete base. Holds 6m3.

Their neighbours saw it & had me build a simpler one, 1.4 m3, free standing on block paved driveway.

I hate it when log stores are only 2 feet high & especially when the roof slopes forward & sends drips down my neck when I'm stacking. (yes, I do that for all my customers).

I have thought about building log stores because we have alot of planed timber left from the kindlet. The timber is not economical to kindle but ideal for log stores. I get tonnes so could sell on at a very cheap price unfortunately its never tanilised.

Here's one I built, had it priced at £80, tried advertising it on gumtree, ebay, my website, ads paper, in person to firewood customers, etc, but didn't have any interest

Two places in Sandbach do these and neither seem to be shifting many. Ashley's near the station had polish workers knocking these out cheap and Gilbert Moore at the end of Abbey Rd do them. Not sure why they are not selling that well?
