Bit windy outside!

was supposed to be felling dead alders today, was on site and the top 15ft drop snapped out of one, about 50ft from where we had people working . decided enough was enough and stopped, time for a bit of tea drinking and xbox now .

Just been out there lucky the tree is down and we were just clearing up

as iv been driving about iv seen no end off trees in bad shape with this wind, but loads of eucalyptus bending a lot, i assume very felxible and strong?

We have had only one call due to the wind got there and it was a TWIG!! well a little bigger but not much

Eucalyptus was the tree I was helping take down its actually a very hard wood. It broke the chipper we were using!!!!!!!!!!!!!

got an eye full of sawdust this morning so im typing one-eyed, i mean.. just when you think its safe to open your eyes the wind plays a dirty trick like that

Two trees down where i am based. A small ivy clad hawthorn and a sizable Ash coppice stool that "exploded" at the base when it fell over. 5 stems hung up and under massive tension (all bowing) and 3 on the footpath. Weren't expecting much down so we had to treck back to our yard to pick up the chipper. One of the guys stupidly walked in front of the chip chute as i fired it up. He got rather damp from the 2 gallons of water that flew out. Still was a good day. Dug out a ditch that needed doing as it had flooded again overnight and was slowly washing the track bed away. No pictures sadly as camera battery was flat.

Had a lot of windblown today. Most out the way in the woods however at 3 one big douglas fir went over blocking acess to a field of cows. 40 mins later was cleared up and now i have eyes full of sawdust. Had a morning of roadside high pruning.

An ideal day for topping a huge conifer hedge today.

 

All the tops at our side of the boundary, credit to Dave and Ben the two climbers who worked very well.

Buffeted about on top of my tripod all day reducing a thick old holly hedge,got to the end at 4,big clear up in the morning.
