On watching the Video again, i have decided -

The hedge is comprehensively dead. No way is it recovering from that.

That felling like that was bad workmanship, and a bad call. I could have dismantled it in under an hour without smashing the hedge.

Tana, this is not a go at you, I assume it was not your call, you were there to place shackles.

I could have dismantled it in under an hour without smashing the hedge. i consider myself a quick climber when needed mr ed and if you had seen what was involved in dismantling that tree it would have been a long tough day probably day and a half and to see someone do it in a hour would of been insane,as for bad workmanship i think thats abit strong.its simple, the job was to fell and do it it safely, which is exactly what happened.as people have said before we all have to make calls and calls have to be made and its a tough industry to keep all these experinced and expert brains happy.i posted this thread to get the response i got and learn from it and i have but stand by my call.

Tana, just to clarify something for me, was that tree in immediate danger of uprooting/collapse?
potentially yes.it was a big tree in a vunerable position to "wait a while and see what happens"

About

Arbtalk.co.uk is a hub for the arboriculture industry in the UK.
If you're just starting out and you need business, equipment, tech or training support you're in the right place.  If you've done it, made it, got a van load of oily t-shirts and have decided to give something back by sharing your knowledge or wisdom,  then you're welcome too.
If you would like to contribute to making this industry more effective and safe then welcome.
Just like a living tree, it'll always be a work in progress.
Please have a look around, sign up, share and contribute the best you have.

See you inside.
