i spent a year working on the railways in 2003 with fountains and to be honest like most work it had its good and bad points. you will have to get a PTS qualification first to work on the railway but your employer will provide that training and sponsership. the work i was mainly envolved in was a 5 metre flail strip maintenance (mainly spraying during the summer months) and vegitation management, e.g blackthorn, hazel, woody weeds. this also included possession works during the night of which included lots of felling and climbing. it got me where i am today, im a local authority climber/arborist so grab what you can get in terms of training/experience. ive done the power line clearence also, but thats for another time....:001_smile:

I did railway work for a few years, good honest hard work, and some of the porthole, embankments were a challenge. Lots of potential for winch work, timber trailers, big chippers, bit of dodgy nighttime climbing etc etc...I enjoyed it, and if you are willing to put the hours in you can earn alot of money.
