I have just been asked by a chap in the village (who owns several properties)to quote him to cut the grass, there are six houses(different size lawns) there is also a small amount of grass to cut at his office site. Ive never done any grass cutting, apart from my own,so what is the going rate per hour,i know this will vary up and down the country, im just after a rough guide. Thanks. Egg

im a gardener and charge out at £15 some manage upto £25 the thing is never charge by the hour think how long it will take work your rate out plus travel, waste, fuel, then put in a price per garden very small gardens would be £15 minimum it only may take 30 mins from unloading kit doing the job and loading up again. if you have several and can be done in the same day relatively close you can earn good money

1) Are you box mowing or mulch mowing? i.e. collecting or leaving the clippings?

2) What is the lawn / grass quality? Luxury and formal grass requires the right mower and the right care.

£ball park for box mow but clippings composted on site (not commercial rate!) rather than taken away (hassle) should be £30-40 per 550m2 i.e. tennis court area and like someone else said approx 1 hour.
