kindling wars are about to start

I have just set up with a kindling machine and just supply local shops, garages at the moment. I supply kiln dried hardwood sticks that some people love as they last longer, and don't spit, some people prefer softwood. Moisture content is 9-14% if my meter is right. I would love to have more orders, but am happy knocking out 200-300 bags a week. Not entering a war But if anyone wants hardwood sticks in 40-50cm Monofilament nets then let me know

The wood we use is untreated without doubt and is sorted before worked. Thanks for your kind support and I can supply the 6kgs bag for £1.00 per bag for orders over 300 collected. I seem to have heard this story before from a pellet manufacturer in Liverpool who assured everybody that the only pallets they used were untreated. Unfortunately the environment agency did not believe them and tested the pellets only to find traces of dioxin which proved the pallets were treated.

The reason i produce hardwood kindling is exactly for that reason renewablejohn, it was the only guaranteed source of none treated wood i could find, very hard to tell if pallets have been treated especially some of the older ones.

Do you not have poplar availible near you, or is this what you are classing as hardwood?

i use ash cherry and oak offcuts that are supplied to me on artic

Poplar is hardwood.

thin sticks so they still light ok and good for getting wet coal going etc

Yes, but I dont class it as, hence why I asked like I did.

 

Seems ideal for sticks though, cheap, lights easily, splits easily and plenty of it around.

Thats why I get the wife to run the kindlet . We charge £1.50 a net at the moment but cant take any more orders unless you can wait till end of feb for collection. 300 bags should be 1000kg unless you buy with lots of water.
