They are nothing new, I used to make them in metalwork at school 33 years ago.

 

Mine were slightly bigger and would penetrate straight through both doors of a car.

 

It was interesting when the teacher unwittingly asked me what I was making, "Model canon sir" I would say.

 

A few years ago I made one that fired squash balls as an anti theft device but ended up scrapping the idea because it was too dangerous. Even a squash ball would have seriously injured someone

Like Deano, I made similar as a lad, but small shotgun size and with nitro powder.This is a little gem.
