PL Insurance

Its that time of year again for myself all my insurances are coming up for renewal, the NFU currently hold my PL and EL, however it appears this year they have chucked in a new endorsment, rendering the insurance that covers PL for tree surgery work useless,

i have been on the phone to them and will be contacting other companies, for quotes etc, however i just thought i would post this, as a little warning and a reminder to check your renewals as i know some people that would of just renewed without even checking it, as the premium is near enough identical to last years just so happens they have removed what i deem to be crucial bits of cover,

have a good new year everyone :)

Just a quick update, i have renewed with my El and Pl with another company and not the NFU, however they did seem keen to keep my business so i did go into negotiation with them, for this year they said they would remove the height restriction clause however next year they would impose a 20metre height restriction and should i find myself working over that i should tell them so i could have temp cover. (read so they can charge more money) I personally find this very odd also they came back with a amended premium on the pl another £230 extra.

they came back to me with the amended renewal 4 days after my policy due date, when i informed them there terms of cover, and premium were somewhat lacking, and as nice as its been negotiating with them but i would not be renewing with them,

they tried to charge me for cancelling the policy. a policy which i have never asked for. after a few brief and firm words they agreed not to charge me for the 4 days apparently they were on cover for me, (cover i never asked them for) not once did i say i was renewing,

I raised my renewal issues with them, before the new year. and it has taken until today for them to sort anything out.

i have to say the NFU seem to of lost the plot on this occassion,
