yea thanks for the info guys. I might give west a call. As they are only down the road from me. Does it really matter what oak timber it is? I would guess it is Sessile Oak. I will need to double check this. Yes milling on site should be ok. Some of the butts are straight. We will hopefully be able to get most of the timber down in 8ft sizes.

So pleased to hear you are not just taking the easy option and turning wood into fire wood.

I keep all the oak trunks I can get my hands on. We have used oak branches to do cleft oak fencing around my garden. I think I have now got enough oak to build a barn and if I was not in Scotland I would have bought the oak from you.

Good luck and if you have a yard and do not have to sell it - keep it as it is the best material for building!!
