I liked the driver in the red saloon @ 1.02 who sees the error of his way in trying to do a u turn in the middle of an ice rink, and just manges to reverse out of harms way as the white saloon comes carreering down toward them.

Fine piece of evasive action :thumbup1:

May of needed to have changed their undies though

I am not so sure it's quite so cut and dry as bad driving. For all the cars to end up on that corner there must be a severe camber on the road towards the kerb.

If you look at the White Volvo coming down it actually makes an attempt to get out of this camber only for the back to get sucked into the kerb and then the front naturally gets pulled in and the rest is inevitable. Once your sliding down with on side lower than the other it's going take some special tyres to get you out of that.

Interesting comments about snow tyres if it's true, clearly they make a world of difference.

A guy that used to work for me has just gone to work in Hanover.

He's got a BMW 1 series (as per the woman driving into the house) but as per German law has had it fitted with winter tyres.

A couple of weeks ago in freezing temperatures he did a 1500km round trip to Copenhagen over a weekend and said that the difference in tyre performance is amazing; hardly any loss of traction.

Clearly that wouldn't help on sheet ice but I suspect goes a long way to explain why current snow and compacted snow conditions in the UK cause chaos relative to other countries where law does not allow people to drive around in cars fitted with hard compound low profile summer tyres in snow and ice.

What concerns me most regarding this type of video is the person is more interested in recording a possible accident rather than helping or even warning the person concerned of the treacherous conditions. That especially applies to the last video.

I thought exactly the same about the woman in the 1 series; clearly she didn't apply the best common sense but as for the guy filming her out of the window rather than going to give her a push, well, I suppose chivalry is dead after all!
