Engine Heaters

With the cold Weather the UK is experiancing,it may be a good idea to fit a Block Heater to your Truck or work Vehicle.

They cost very little, last for ages and make starting easier for your Vehicle.

You simply remove a Frost Plug in the Engine Block and replace with a Heater Element. As you screw it in,the back expands and forms a Seal.It works just like the Element in your Kettle, except not boiling the Water. As the Warm Water Circulates the Engine, its keeps internal Fluids Viscous.

To use you simply plug the car into the mains. Unbelievably the parking meters in Fairbanks Alaska have Sockets to plug your Car into.

Magnetic Heaters are normally attached to the Sump of Machinery. This warms the Oil and the the Engine from the Bottom up.They are not as effective as Block Heaters but easy to remove and apply.

I'm hoping this cold spell is a wake up call to UK drivers, so in future they will prepare for winter as everyone should.

Since I began driving in 82 I have always had two sets of tyres, winter tyres and summer tyres.

It pee's me right off seeing people driving out in snow blizzards thinking they are going to get somewhere on what is nothing more than slik's

I remember "in the olden days" in the village I lived in, two double deckers dissappearing under a snow drift outside my house

Interesting, I've just ordered a Webasto Parking Heater aka Hotstart for my Wifes' Bora TDI; she really feels the cold and it massively improves engine life especially as all she does is a 3 mile commute and the flippin vw tdi's are so damn efficient that the jacket temperature is still nowt after ages and ages :001_smile:
