Oak Tree - Climbing, Felling and Clear Up

Did this tree a while back, only just got round to posting the pics

 

Big Oak tree that we took down for a farmer, granddads had a lot of timber of this guy over the years

 

Reason for felling is that a shed or building is to be built underneth or near where the tree was, i know that some of you will moan about removing a tree like this, just enjoy the pics

 

I climbed the tree and knocked a big branch off the one side, first time is used a 440 up a tree

 

Granddad fell it with the 070, love watching him work.

 

Cleared the cord wood out with the major.

 

Granddad then split the trunk with the 070, so it can be transported and to get it on the mill

 

Was a good weekend

ahhh i wondered if you would be lurking around in here, cheers man, yeah man its a sweet bit of timber, gunna be milling it up some time next year, probably into inch boards then put it in the shed to dry out, or if somone wants some odd sizes knock it up into that

fantastic, i bet that saw is sharper than sharp. Grandpappy strikes again, gotta love that generation. I was in the roll shop today and an old boy came in, he must of been 80 easy, he ordered 4 fried egg rolls and cheese, 3 huge fruit scones and 2 huge coco nut cake things, and that was for HIS breakfast. I bet he wasnt 8 stone under all his coats. When men were men:thumbup1:

Looked like she came over no bother. Love the use of cord from limbs to prop the butt off the ground so your Grandad could rip it.

 

Timber looks nice, too.

Yeah came over easy, as i was up the tree we did put the winch cable in it, thought it would be better to have it and not need it, but didnt need a pull, just a couple of taps on the wedge

Liam, get the grinder out and buff up your grandads wedges, take the cuffs off them, he will be able to hit them further in with his axe:thumbup1:
