I've got 3 guys on fulltime pay. We haven't worked all week. I don't pay overtime though so it works both ways for all of us. The guys like to know that they will be getting the same wage every week for mortgages etc. They get minimum holiday days but I give them a paid day extra off to Lincolnshire show and pay for tickets for them and their wives. I'm thinking of giving them a day off for their birthdays aswell. Sometimes it's worth more than a financial bonus.

Wife told me that if staff in Slovakia are told to stay off from work they get 60% of their pay for that day. That seems fair to me. Like most companies, if we are not out, we're not earning, so no pay and no commision for the rep.

I have paid employee for this week, but if this snow keeps up, i think i will need 2 pay him just what he NEEDS to get by....bills, food ect! Melt god damn it, melt.

Ah thats different. IMO if your staff make the effort, and through no fault of their own have to go home, then the employer should reward them for their efforts and pay them a days pay. Otherwise what incentive would they have to bother?

In this case, it is up to the employer to contact their workers to save them what is probably a hazardous journey. Only a poor employer would allow his staff to come in knowing there was no work and they would be going straight home. I had this with a nursery I did work for and, guess what, I don't work for them anymore
