That is interesting.

When I had my accident, I was told Basket, the company who manufacture the machine had ceased trading.

I had an idea that the supplier was fobbing me off to try and avoid litigation

It may be worth making suppliers in Australia aware of the ruling in the UK ?

i would imagine that they are already aware of the unit's short comings

i thought about buying this brand/model a few years ago but your accident put me off.

Prior to buying the current MEWP i did alot of research on the net and could not find any incidents involving Cela spyder lifts.I ended up buying the first one shipped to Australia

This machine also relies on sensors and a loadcell where the basket clips on .If you over extend the machine an alarm goes off and then it shuts the motor off.you can then re start and retract the boom. Before using it on its first job it was well and truly tested at full extension over a flat roof and the feet showed no signs of lifting. However the feet pads slide into a much bigger steel plate than the actual foot and this surely must help with the stability
