I know ebay can be a strange place but i have been toying with the idea of replacing one of my 26's with a newer ms260 as there getting on a bit. Anyway as most of us do i trawled tbay and came up with a few newer ones and found this, Im going to get a new one from Jonsie instead but what people will pay on here is madness, this used saw is the same price as a brand new one from Justin and it's still got a day to run!!!!!!

I see it as a good place to sell on tired or broken saws. Its amazing how much they bring, sometimes as much as a good runner, obviously being honest about condition is a must.

One thing i have noticed, is a saw from a pro user and possibly had massive hours on it can bring good money, whereas, bigger pro saws that have been bought by home owners "for one tree" etc, seem to be the bargains. The risk with them is "homeowner treatment" but these saws are the ones with virtually no hours on them. As long as they have no reported "engine proplems" they are the ones I would go for.

Don't forget that some people sell a load of junk on ebay from the shed or attic etc. then they have loads of "cash" sitting in thier paypal accounts. SO they might pay a bit more for something on ebay but its paid for with cash that never really existed in the first place.

Of course you could transfer the money form paypal to your account and lose a few % in the process then buy the saw or whatever cheaper, but I personally (beign self employed) don't want the hassle of extra money comeing into my account, especially if its then used for work stuff.

If you claimed back the cost of the saw against tax then you would have to claim the money in from ebay as income, so in the end its really not worth it. If I could convert a load of rubbish into 600 paypal units and then buy an ms260 for 600 of those units I would think I have done very well out of the deal.

I have never ever put any actual money into paypal and i have never ever taken any out either, it just sits there and gets used for stuff.

The only good deals i`ve had on saws have been `buy it nows` in the week. People shifting shed fulls of inherited items etc, where they dont know the value and just want to turn a few quid.

The worst time to bid on saws are those that end on weekend evenings when folks are halfway through a box of strongbow.
