what laptop?

Hi, I am quite clueless when it comes to computers, but need to get myself a laptop and would appreciate some advice from those who know about these things.

I will be mostly using it for business/organization purposes, and will likely want to run autocad 2010 on it at some point. Other than that, general write ups and internet use- no games, downloading films etc.

I don't know my RAM from my rom, how much memory I'll need, or where to go! Was thinking of currys dixons staples etc as they are open when I'm not working!

Obviously I want to spend as little as possible and am on an as yet undecided but limited budget.

Thank you all

Staples overpriced, dixons do they still exist ??, Currys r probably a good option if you get someone who knows what there talking about, and pc world well don't get me started there.

I would probably find a small computer shop and sit down and have a good chat with them and tell them what you want it for as they will have more time for you instead of a big company trying just to get a sale.

Get yourself down to a Apple store and get a Macbook you wont regret it. Best thing i ever did!!!

:thumbup:Could not agree more Macbook Pro, the most reliable and bombproof laptop, get yourself straight to an apple store. I was never an apple person and ya they take a little getting used to after using a windows based laptop, but well worth it. best of luck:001_smile:

I got an Compaq laptop a few months ago from ebuyer. 4gb of ram, and 500gb hard drive, duel core and what not, was about £360, a good deal compared to those in the shops. Only trouble is that the battery only lasts about 30mins which is no good! I think the mac book battery lasts about 9 hours, I wish I had spent more and got one of them!
