Oh yes, so I did !

Too many glasses of wine ! So what do you mean ? You think it's more or less than 2.5 Dumpy sacks to one 1.7m3 level Cabstar load ?

Had a customer ring today asked how big the load is, said its a mini digger trailer load so just shy of cubic metre when heaped up, then spent ten minutes discussing wether thats a cubic metre when stacked neatly in his log store or loose tipped into trailer, told him it was an approximate measure as a guide when loaded on trailer, so how much is actually there when its stacked he replied, honestly I give up sometimes its like trying to teach Baldrick to count! :001_cool:

and do you take into account if split it will have even more flat sides meaning less air space meaning less volume when stacked

Yep but it could also have round logs or knobbly lumps in it and that really throws out the calculations :001_rolleyes::laugh1: and I'm going to get it all again in the morning cos I've got to go and see the same bloke to price some fencing :001_cool:

our transit tipper body measures 2.5m3, we empty two m3 vented bags in the back and sell as a 2m3 load and it comes level with the sides, so allowing .5m3 air space - we sell this load as a 2m3 , we can get in 3m3 if heaped up in the middle.

we found a 'level' load on a cabstar was 2-2.4m depending on where you call level.

Dumpy bag= 0.6cu.m. so at least 3 per load

Thats why at £45/bag they seem so cheap- it equates to about £150 /cabstar load.

I think what you really need are repeat customers who value what you sell.

Look after them and they will look after you. The reason customers are asking all these questions is because they have been ripped off so many times.

Just come back from garden centre where they are selling bag os 11 logs for £5.99-
