I love co-codamol.

I also rate tramadol as a pain killer.

You do have to be aware of the side effects, and plan accordingly though.

I find that the amount required does depend on how much stretching and warming up exercises are undertaken though.

I took 8 tramadol a day for 6 months in 2008. It was awesome!!!!

Painkillers do nothing for me. Prevention is better than cure. Sometimes I have a period of a few days where I will constantly stretch, like doing sun salutations etc. I can feel any pain that is present, oozing away.

A good stretching regime is worth spending time on. Opiates, be it codeine or morphine just bung me up, even when doing more than I'm told. I don't understand people who go "woooooo I feel like I'm floating away and my body is numb lol" when I end up backing up to last week and continuing to feel pain. But then again, people want quick fix, managing the symptom rather than the cause.

You see therein lies half your problem- the pilates is great, but not having one of those money grabbing morons messing your back up will have helped enormously. If you do need to see a specialist, see a physiotherapist, chiropractors are responsible for a large part of remedial patients seen by physiotherapists, who-unlike chiroprators- are actually recognised as medical practitioners. Chiropractors are classed as alternative therapy, along with the likes of herbalists, reiki healers etc etc.:001_smile:

Bang on tommer I wasted money on them for ages for my back just made it worse, then an ex army medic I know said go physio. I only went once she could see my problem, gave me stretches to do and said to roll a towel place on bottom of my back when driving etc

sports massage once a month (or more if time permits) and diazepam when needed.

I take back what I said about painkillers not killing pain with me, my back went into spasm when I picked my dog up once and after falling to the floor I was stuck in a press-up position until I managed to call my mate to come and pick me up off the floor. Got prescribed vallies for that and back was soon out of spasm. Not really a painkiller thinking about it, muscle relaxant innit, but it definitely killed the pain.
