The survivor tree at the 911 memorial. Apparently it was broken down to an 8 foot stump. Supported by cable bracing, they've given it a 25 year life span. Cuttings taken so there is a continuos line for replanting from the one tree.

Hey guys, I'm new to this and currently working outside of Toronto where I moved 3 months ago (started climbing in good old sunny Norn Iron!!)...anyway here's one of the dodgier trees I've done so far....locust that has split at the bottom and is over hanging an outside classroom, so had to come down!ImageUploadedByArbtalk1371246612.785123.jpg.955271ef5f9111e17b3113f557fa0809.jpg.

Excuse the pegs, got handed long gaff spikes I'm not too comfortable on yet!

Any chance of a straight fell in there Reg? The dead tree sounds pretty dodgy.

I suppose moving targets is a bit of an issue when they are 150ft trees.....

Looks like the big dead one is on for tuesday afternoon.....the live one is being left until september I think. First we have to go up to Lake Cowichan to finish the big maple I posted a few weeks back....assuming the birds have gone, then on to the Sooke. Safe to say it'll be a late finish.

And welcome Mr P from Toronto :thumbup1:

Cheers reg!!...enjoying your work, it's what I imagined I might of been doing when I came to Canada but I think I might have to go west to get the 200fters! I've yet to do one over a 100 I reckon :(
