General Tree pics

Rob,

we went down to Hampton Court 8 years ago to harvest a huge load of berries & clumps, from an avenue of vet Limes that were being felled.

Up at Hampstead in North London, we have no mistletoe at all.

So the idea was to spread the seed at various heights and diameters of branches of Limes.

Not a single success

It's not so easy :001_rolleyes:

.

Hmm, could that not just be host/parasite incompatibility? I can't remember if they grow well or even at all on limes but do well on poplar. When we get some at Christmas I'll see if I can get a bit stuck on some apples weve got here and see if anything manages. There a farm local to me with a ball of it hanging on a poplar, might go and ask them for it!

I have seen Misteltoe on a couple of monster limes over the years. Hence the reason they were squidged onto the Mature Limes at Hall Place, Bexley.

Hall Place

Also Hall Place have a number of trees with Parakeet problems. we climbed the trees and pushed chicken wire into the cavities and folded out the front to stop them nesting. Of course we checked for occupants before hand.

first pic is at 10am

next one is 1.20pm

and all felled and rung up by 3.30 :thumbup1:

last one being a fair amount of woodchip in that load :blushing:

I reckon thats the hardest of all trees to colonise:thumbup1:

the moss must have been key, mistletoe in Oaks is sacred to both druids and jews apparently
