an old pic of a monteray pine stem i felled, you can see where it snapped in half on impact

 

and 2 pics of a twisted fir a found walking yesterday. any ideas on what caused it, my guess it was caused by honeysuckle early on in life as there seems to be an abundance of it in these woods

I wonder if the top was broken off years ago and a side branch grew up and round to form a new leader?

from what i was told there was major compaction due to previous building works. we advised to deadwood but they said they would rather remove and re plant.

 

yeah nice tree to start on no major obstructions and plenty of space to dismantle.
