Nick, I did post some pics of tree work with a tower crane a few years ago.

 

Thought so, have ya still got them, would love to see them again, as i recall it was pretty big tower crane.

the job was about 4 years ago, I think. The yellow one was a 50m mobile tower crane and the red one a bit bigger at 60M.

 

My mate Chris doing the cutting from a mewp and 4 of us on the floor to clear up.

I was wondering the other day why towers arnt used as much and just put it down to maybe taking longer to set up hence needing to be at a job for a while to justify it as in construction sites. What was the reason for using one rich just because of height?

The only reason the tower was used was for reach. No other crane could do it and the road outside was too narrow for a conventional crane and the other side of the trees was network rail land. Plus they are very expensive. Especially that size. I think the red one was the largest in Europe at the time.

Rich, you are beginning to sound like a gobby cockney with your incorrect data about cranes.

 

There is a very good reason tower cranes are not commonly used in treework, and you know what it is as well as I do.
