The start of a two felling job (big boss thought it would be a day). Lots of S/D Sycamores and field maples that were all pulled over with the Ranger. One of them was a bit of a pain as got severely hung-up in a Western Red Cedar. We used the Ranger with a 25mm poly rope and used the vans pulling power off the tow hitch to rip it out. Had a massive fire to burn the arisings and took a van load of logs for a friend at the end of the day.

Just goes to show how much wildlife there is even at that height in zee treez.

Is that a car park below Reg ?

Interesting to see a wildlife stick being left close to a target area. Obviously not within falling zone I'm sure.

Don't give that shot to Stihl, send it to Husqvarna instead, and let them know what advertising oportunities they're missing !

Keep them coming Reg, maybe (if you have time) set up a 'Coates does Canada' type thread, & keep them all together :thumbup1:

.

Thanks. Dave, 60ft seems to be the minimum height to leave a habitat tree, not sure why but I got the impression that anywhere below will not entice the species of bird or whatever they're after. I'll find out more.

By the time I got to that height we were way short of hitting anything in that unlikely event (not shown in the photos). Here's another shot a couple of trees later that day....I just had to rig out some back limbs before it could be pulled over. The damage was at about 60ft.

Edit: yes that is a new private road being layed out

Awesome Reg.

The pic of the 200 is stunning.

I take it you have absoloutely no regrets then......?:)

tommer, I have a ton of regret....too many to mention. My mother is 60 and lives alone....seeing her walk away while trying to hold it together that last time, I'll never forget it, or forgive myself. I'll give it a year or two and see how it goes. Thanks

Couple of a Poplar demolition job today. There was no good reason for these to come out. 80 years old and it seems that the local land owner (who moved in not too long ago) had the ear of someone high up in council. The order was sent forth for the removal despite much grumbling from me.
