What descender works the best when used in conjunction with 10mm line and up to 500m of rope hanging below? ISC have kindly given the AB descender to trial but what are peoples thoughts on other descenders with this much rope hanging below, i read the grigri only works with upt o 200m of rope below. any help much appreciated.:001_smile:

Generally I thought it was normal to try and keep the rope in a bag attached to your self when using such lengths of rope, but if that is not possible for some reason then I don't know the answer and am therefore not much help at all!!

Gri Gri will only work with that length of rope as the weight of the hanging rope will open the Cam or at least I think that is what happens. The petzl stop is only rated for maximum decent of 200m on a single line

A figure 8 would work but the rope will twist like mad.

I would think a rack would be the best option as you can put different degrees of friction on it depending on weight.

We've tried the rack and it bent the rope too much and just wouldn't run. Tbh I don't think there's anything that works tht well with so much rope hanging below, the best effort so far was a vt set up in a f8 system, trouble is we went through too much hitch cord.

Cheers anyway guys
