I am planning on putting palisade fencing on top at one side to secure my yard seperate to the chip, I prefer concrete as it is no maintainance and can build up off it if needed

Dunno if you had thought about it Dean but it might require planning permission / license's from the EA............depends how worried you are about legistlation etc!

 

We are doing a similar thing at work at the moment and had to have planning permission, and a couple of EA licences (can't remember what for though )

at a guess, one will be 'storage of waste not at the point of production' or something along those lines. theyve just changed all the waste exemption paragraph numbers else id be able to tell you off hand which one.

We have to have them all internally too, for our own depots and sites

If you do chose to go down the concrete route I'd highly reccommend Dale crete, we've had a fair few dealings with them and they're very helpful and the drivers are accommodating. Top folks to do business with!

leaching in to waters courses ,as i got told told by the e/a.dean what about using ton bags to build some bunkers with ,in a u type shape & cheaper

There is an environmental issue with the run off.

 

The EA jumped on Oldham MBC a couple of years ago.

Yeah think its the water run off, the amount you are storing each year and the fact its a permenant "building", I'm not really involved with it at work otherwise I would be able to help more.

We had the A frame concrete pillars at the farm I worked at. We managed to move them about with a telehandler. When they were in place they could handle everything thrown at them and they were used as a wall to contain cows over the winter. Well worth it.
