Just processed about 24 m3 of Cherry. 50/50 split with me and the owner. So a new log store was called for. First photo is some of the wood then progress.

Here is the remainder of the photos and the finished shed. It took me about 3 weeks just working now and again.

Looks a good solid store. Did you leave a bit of an air gap against the barn wall, or will the logs lean on it directly?

 

How did you ensure the beams were straight and true, and plumb with each other / the barn? Plumb line?

What are those 'ladder' like things, the things covered in rabbit netting, about?

 

Are they there to assist with airflow?

Sandspider / eggsarascal. The ladder like things are small pallets covered with rabbit netting. these are to prevent the logs from touching the barn wall and to aid airflow.

The uprights were attached to tubes with a plate welded on then cemented into the ground. I then was able to set them up before putting the posts on drilling and bolted through. Photo attached

Did you manage to get the bamboo roots out? It can be a pig, and can keep popping up forever !

Tell me about the bamboo. It started out as one plant, then went ballistic over 20 years. I don't think it will ever be eradicated.

I cleared an area of about 100/200 square metres of very dense bamboo, up to 3m high with a brushcutter in 2011 think it was. We then had a mini digger in to get the roots out, and numerous bonfires. Regrowth was sprayed with glyphosate.

 

Even after all that it sill occasionally pops up a few new shoots every year

Fair play that's a nice bit of work (could be a good sideline) I've got a very similar space to yours & wanted to do the same but our rain usually comes in between 0 & 45 degrees so it's ibc & tin for me
