am i being unreasonable in asking more money for purely oak logs as opposed to my mixed hardwood? i was thinking of £15 per cubic metre more? any thoughts ladies an gentlemen?:confused1:

In answer to your question,

I think The only way you could ask for more money would be if it was for your time seperating it into different piles. Waste of time. Bang it all in as mixed.

Unless of course you already have loads of customers who have pre-ordered specifically oak at the new higher price. Then it might be worth it.

Its simple.

add up : value of standing + Cost of harvesting / extraction +haulage + processing (including depreciation of machine) + handling and storage, increase these figures by 50% due to moisture loss and you should have a figure of what the wood is worth per tonne, you can then work out what it is worth per cube and what its KWH value is.
