Looking good Tom, but it looks a wee bit "lighter" than mine somehow. What engine is on that one?

You giong to get the stop bar upto hse spec?

As for chip quality, dont just accept rough chip as a way of getting out of sharpening, as blunt blades dont do your machine any good, and use LOTS more fuel. You will get the chip size down with sharp blades and correctly set anvil. The machine will love you for it too!

Its got a 3 cyl deutz. Has yours got the perkins?

I may fabricate an HSE system- i have sen a couple of very good hoe made ones that tick all the relevant boxes.

Regarding chip quality- I have the blades pro sharpened, but the pic was the day after i got back, and hadnt had time to get them done, and they were so blunt you could run you finger across them with a fair bit of pressure!! :thumbdown:They are now razor sharp (i removed a chunk of finger and half a nail without feeling it when i fitted them (stupidly not wearing gloves (knob!)).

My point was that all the chippers i have used that have been set up right, have had pretty much identical looking chip, and that at the end of the day its only woodchip waste.....or am I missing the point:confused1: (not being in the market to sell chip)

Nice one Tom, bigger chippers do produce bigger chips. You can get around the long pieces if you like by putting brash through with larger logs that usually give the big bits. The brash feeds the logs through evenly at the ends.

Im like you now though, 80% of my chip is given away.

Mine has the perkins, long drawbar and big hopper. Different animal.

You get the stress sorted?
