Some pics of a tree close to where I live. It's been split for several years but has recently opened up and one bough has split and is resting on the ground

A hispidus induced failure. The parkland we were doing some rights of way work on had several massive trees fail during the january winds. If i had more time i would have got pictures of the failures. There were two 5ft diametre HCs both with australe on the deck and a big dead beech covered in kretz to about 8 ft up the stem. I shall try and get out there next week as we have a few more jobs to do.

there where so many HC gano failures in thos jan winds, proof of the detrimental association

came across this oalk in a local wood the other day........the split must have been approx 20ft in length and the tree is now nestling in the crown of a neighbouring beech.

 

Was wondering if you body language boys could tell what the initial cause of basal decay may have been?

Check this bad boy out! been doing windblow and storm damage every day this year so far and have not had one that confused my tension and compression eyes like this saw jammer... any ideas what to do with this except for some tnt?
