Hello all,

Im curently working as a self employed climber in North Wales, work is good and all is well but ie always wanted to move up to scotland so was wondering what the work situation would be for a self employed climber,is there much up there? Id be interested in doing forestry work too. Ive got relatives near Inverness so thats the area I would think about starting at.

Only trying to get an idea for the moment but any info would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers.

Tom.

glasgow theres not too much work.

too many tree surgeons now and the general public don't have idea of what a real tree surgeon is.

Aberdeen is better as its the oil capital and plenty of money flying around.

Edinburgh is better than glasgow to work.

Regarding good climbers - not many in Glasgow not sure about elsewhere.

Am up near Inverness and out my way it is a bit saturated with tree surgeons. I mainly do subby work and I now have two regular guys I do work for, but the work is slow at the moment. It should start picking up at the end of the month though.

I think people up here are a bit more clued up about what real tree surgeons do compared to say people that live in city's.

I've been up in the highlands for 2 years now and its the best move I ever made. Come up for a reccy some time I would be happy to show you about.

Cheers

Stevie
