so a customer wants you to grind a stump out.does this mean a- remove every last bit of the stump b-grind the heart out to well below ground level so they can grass it ,plant in it or pave over it c- remove the stump and follow every significant root that may be a problem to them in the future even though it makes their lawn look like the somme!

I guess the key here is to clarify to the customer what you are quoting for and what they should expect to achieve as a result.i'm sure we have all had a customer who keeps finding the odd root 'do you think you might be able to just get this bit out 'even though it's 10ft away from the stump.no problem we aim to please but this is stumpgrinding not every root grinding.

I always ask why they want the stump out then measure up and give them the price. I have been to quite a few jobs where the previous company hasn't ground it out enough, it's usually when the soil has been banked up against the tree or it's been on a bit of a mound.

That is when you definitely need to talk it through with the :thumbup1:

We always find out what the customer wants to acheive, and then the invoice always states exactly what we have done and agreed on, then there a no come backs.

We have ground out every root on a few stumps, spent the whole day on one job and the garden looked like a spiders web when we were finished.
