axe vs. wood splitter??

im currently processing oak, all ringed up 12 months ago, i use a large stump with caged sides to split upon, also have a long bench next to stump to slide rings along to minimise lifting, its all differant sized stuff so realisticlly a two way splitter is the only option,,,, i think this would be slower than me with an axe, anyone got any thoughts????:confused1:

my dad bought his log splitter nearly 30 years ago, it has ran nearly everyday since, same spark plug just needs the oil topping up weekly, the pull cord snapped yesterday, it was the original, i see it as a sign and i am going to retire it and buy a new one at the APF i think. it is an excellent investment mate
