I've had Ankalads on my small ladders for years; they're excellent, each side being adjustable both vertically and horizontally. You just set the ladder and adjust each pair of telescopic legs.

Having used them so much I don't like the look of the tripod ladders, with just one extra leg. I'm sure I'm wrong to be wary of them but just how stable are they? Seems to me that as soon as you meet a side slope you need to block one of the ladder feet. That's true of an Ankalad setup too but you have two extra feet, spaced far wider that the ladder width, giving you four points of ground contact, not three.

i like the look of those anchor ladders. the tripod ladders are great, but they have a sole use....this other option looks like something id be interested in parting some cash for

the only problem with the anchor is it is not high enough you can only stand at the 8 foot section of the ladder (well thats how i read it) and reach to 14 feet, that is not high enough for the hedges ive to do.

 

still handy to have at £85 though:thumbup1:

trust me robert you go can way high up the ladders with the anchor lad system

I've got the small tripod ones with adjustable feet, brilliant little things.

We use 'orchard' ladders at work as well and they are brilliant. Great for straddling over the prize flower bed when you have to trim the hedge behind it. They make trimming around individual lawsons soooo much easier.
