Thanks David. That helps me update my little fungi library :001_smile: I was particularly taken with the Phaeolus schweinitzii...it was the size of a dinner plate and did indeed look just like velvet.

 

I fear I may be getting hooked on this fungi thing :biggrin:

That's a really nice picture of the Phaeolus. The few that I have come across never look like the text book images. What was it on? It looks like Beech in the piccy.

It's Laccaria amethystina - The Amathyst deceiver, Josh

 

Small & relatively common, hard to spot though.

 

mycorrhyzal on Beech, Oak & a couple of conifers.
