friction cord types

hi could some one give me an example of a hard ype friction cord and a soft type please

what diameter rope do you plan on using

armour pruss soft........ imo any how....others may disagree,buy a load of different types and try what you prefere Honey Bros and tree worker have a good selection to view on line.

both can be brought in 8 and 10 mm depending on what size rope you use or what you prefere I like 8mm on every thing though!! so there is no rules really.

Ditto Matty, and depends on hitch type, your weight, climbing style, weather, phase of the moon etc.!

 

Experimenting in your own time on small trees helps in avoiding looking like a prick at work. Honestly.

I've just bought some Ocean Polyester e2e 8mm. Thought it a bit thin at 1st, but works well with a swabian/hitchclimber on Yale XTC

i use 8mm OP on my ropes, i have all 13mm lines so all hitches work the same on each, i struggled to get a VT to self tend but i would rather have the extra wrap and grabability than the ease of use.

 

i bought 2 e2e slings, for abou £28 each they aret cheap, handy because of the eyes, but now i would rather tie two fishermans, bought 5m for less than 20£ and ice got more than 4 cords out of it with room for a couple more.

 

armor pruss s nice and soft, works well as a vt on the 16 strands.
