Poor weather for the last 2 months hasnt helped either.

I doubt many people have been out in thier gardens thinking the hedges need sorting or "I really must get one of the professional tree people to inspect the health of my tree." :001_smile:

Works been well below average here for the last 18-24 months anyway.

Pricing has gone beyond even "Doing it for the wood", I'm removing a eucalyptus next week for nothing "Just for the smell" :laugh1:

As Mick says though you never know what job can pop up around the corner.:thumbup1:

Quite the opposite here for a change; amount of work has been relentless since the spring; only one week was down to about 2 days; nearer 6 now plus logs. Actually noticing people wanting quality as well as quantity too which is great. Inclement weather is a major pita tho - getting soaked every day.

as hard as it may seem at the moment dont lose sight , down here there are alot of firms advertising for tree work and most of them are prepared to work pretty much for free and thats fine but im not dropping my prices just to get work that aint going to make me a penny , i would much rather stey back at the farm cutting logs ready to sell , im in it for the long term !!. hold tight mate keep positive and if your not out working on the saws then get in on the phone and computer , dont wait for the phone to ring mate you need to make it ring. im always pushing no matter how busy i am , im now in a dituation where by i have a big job in london , and another in wilt's that i have been asked to quote purely because i went looking for more work , i work on a 1 in 10 theory that for every ten jobs i quote im likely to get one .

Any way i really hope that work pics up for you .

How bad do you want to stay trading??

DIVERSIFY:thumbup:

Start offering grass cutting to all your previous customers, once you are doing that there is always something else needing done.

You will also find once you are out and about you get work, is the van written? i always take my van to tescos when i go for for a breakfast if ive not working then to the swimming pool its amazing how many times people phone saying i seen you at the pool. They dont think he must have no work hes at the swiming!!!

The more previous satisfied customers you have the more come back again also do that little bit extra offer a bit more than the guys around you. there is a guy round here offering a free bag of firewood logs for every quote he does. it may work it may not but he is thinking out the box.

Remember the difference between ordinary and extraordinary is that little bit extra:thumbup:

Good luck mate its a rollercoaster you are on it has highs and lows.

I'd agree with Robert...

How about offering previous and existing clients services like landscaping, clearing gutters before the autumn etc.

You could also look towards the commercial sector, woodland thinning, firewood, kindling, tree planting, hedge planting, fencing etc.

Don't get too dispondent, I know what it's like ot be 20 running a business - bloody hard work but you get out of it what you put in and if you are prepared to graft, then the work will come to you. It dosen't have to be tree work... as Robert has already said - think outside the box.

Hope it picks up for you soon mate.

Matt
