Will do to 5 foot deep (12" wide) in no time at all, not had a single stoppage due to stones or tree roots yet & thats in a woodland.

Thanks lads, as usual a professional and useful feedback. Seems to me that these 1 man augers are only fit for easy digging soil, i may as well stick to my grafter, at least when my back finally breaks i can cut the spade off and use it as a walking stick. Thanks 18 stonner but i work on my own, 2 mans no good to me.DENT thanks for the info, very interested, depending on price

No worries fella, we're here to help each other if we can:thumbup1:

iv seen a demo of this looked good mate or try a tanaka post hole borer as they feel better than the stihl Hire Barreto - Products - Compac Post Hole Borer

I'll second that - I think it was Saltex a few years ago I saw it. The Barreto stuff is very well constructed. We have one our their hydraulic rotavators for difficult ground conditions and its awesome. The post hole borer they do is more powerful than most two man machines but only needs one man so fits your bill. See if you can try hiring one first - alot of the hire shops use them.
