I use three ropes of different lengths, all XTC. They run through a Petzl p50 with 8mm cord onto a wide ball lock. 4 wraps 3 turns On the newer rope ans 3 of each on the older as it has more friction. The memory thing is interesting, but my long rope is pretty new. maybe it has a good memory?

I wonder if it is due to the small diameter of the cord. The bending radius would be more severe, thus placing a greater twisting force on the cordage.

Or maybe not :)

I had the same problem with XTC, it would twist up terribly, I would have to lay the rope out and twist it back along the whole length of the rope but this would only work for a climb or two then it would just twist up again.

Shame, I like XTC.

thing is with rope when you wrap it up, (unless you use a rope bag) you naturaly put twist in the line, so best way round it,is not to fight the twist in the rope just leave it and if it gets too bad, find a big area and walk with your rope and it should un-twist. As for the VT i rekkon your using too thin a diamater of rope to make your VT.

Try different size, see how you get on. :icon14:
