Spotted this a tree in a private garden about a year a go unfortunately no pics of the whole tree but managed a few of the leaves so hopefully someone can help.

As I remember it was about 15 ft tall with only about 5ft crown spread though I don't know if this was its natural form.Hopefully if the pics attach you will be able to see two distinct types of foliage one lot mimosa like and the others like a skinny dogwood.

Any help would be helpful.

cheers

Looks like a graft hybrid or chimera, but its not one I have seen before.

The most common one is Laburnum and Cytisus, the broom leaves look right but the other one doesnt look like laburnum.

Very interesting, I recently saw what I think was a Laburnum cytusis graft hybrid in a customers garden, the flowers were pink on some branches and yellow on the other.

I dont Know what it is but try identing the two leafs seperatly then look them up in Hilliers manual of trees and shrubs.

Not a clue thought the fine leaves look like a mimosa. Any ideas re the provenance of the tree; where it came from, how it was produced?

Thanks for your time folks , I'm glad I wasn't the only one flummoxed by it. Looks like Acacia koa is the name I was looking for though the form was completely different from any pics I've found on the web but as I remember the crown was very dense so I suspect it had been pruned annually .

Thanks once again I've learnt a little bit today now i've just got to look up Laburnum broom hybrid chimera thingys.
