I am the pround new owner of a 1650 with crane.

 

I'm now looking to save and buy/build a fast tow trailer on air, has any body got advice, builders.

 

Mog doesn't have pick up hitch so needs to be fitted on to NATO style hitch.

 

Looked Muller trailers at Alex's look really nice just putting feelers out to alternatives?

 

We need a trailer that will take chip and timber, thought about half side and then removable bolsters for timber. Cheaper the better to get me started!!

 

Has anybody converted a grain trailer to fast with air?

I have done the ag conversion thing but IMO you are better off going with an axle intended for air. Ag spec trailers aren’t speed rating for mogs (brakes and tyres) and grain trailers are a bit flimsy for log work.

 

Consider converting an artic trailer. It’s already on air, chop off the box, fit bolsters, happy days.

 

I know it’s not exactly what you want but this started life as an artic box trailer. I added Hydraulic system so non air off road tractors could use it.

 

 

Or you can buy the axles and scratch build.

 

I would strongly advise against the “NATO” hitch, look for a rockinger type hitch ROCKINGER Catalogue Rockinger is the most common but there are others out there.

i would just get acprice to build you one, you might get a fright at the price to start with, but any home made trailer i have seen is always a compromise, Huck will be along soon to show off the ultimate log/chip trailer hopefully:thumbup:

this guy sells used trailer chassis the same as the curtain side lorries tow so they will have the hitch and on fully air braked ready to add your timber bolster and crane

these people About Us - Cherry Products, Oxfordshire built/converted a trailer for us, as above not cheap but good quality , rockinger hitch is the one to use .

I bought an ex military turntable trailer so already piped for air and suitable for the mog speeds then built a stronger chassis over the top and utilised the mog sides so they are removable and look the same as the mog probably cost in the region of 3k

Venables way by far the more cost effective , I forgot earlier to mention that mog trailers are unique in that they are more balanced than most ag trailers in that they have less drawbar weight, you need to base any trailer build or conversion ideally on an already purposes built mog trailer if you are lucky you may be able to find a 2nd hand one ( ex military?) and go from there, certainly the trailers I have seen and advice we have had from Alex have been good, we have a 2nd hand one ourselves
